Make an easy Grapefruit Gin and Tonic for some fresh citrus flavors all winter long. This is simple to make and very tasty!

A Gin and Tonic is always a go to cocktail around here! We are always trying new versions or twists on the classic mix. In this case we added some grapefruit juice to the mix, and it was lovely, tart and refreshing. Try a non-alcoholic Cranberry Lime Gin and Tonic, Snap Pea Gin and Tonic, or even a Gingerbread Gin & Tonic, too!

Grapefruit Gin and Tonic

A Gin and Tonic is obviously just that, gin and tonic. Easy and with simple ingredients. If you want to switch it up you can use different kinds of gin, tonic water and added ingredients. Those ingredients can be different garnishes, fruits, spices, juices, liqueurs, liquors and more.

We wanted to use fresh grapefruit juice in this Grapefruit Gin and Tonic, and we garnished with juniper berries and a large slice of grapefruit. This grapefruit gin cocktail is a delicious twist on the classic gin cocktail. Try a Strawberry Limeade Gin and Tonic, as well.

Tips & Tricks

  • Tonic Water – we used regular tonic water to make this to make sure the grapefruit is highlighted. But, if you have a favorite flavored tonic, you can use that. If you want even more grapefruit flavor you can even use a grapefruit tonic!
  • Gin – in this recipe we preferred a London Dry gin, but a citrus gin or an American gin would work well too. You can use your favorite gin if it’s one of those.
  • Sweetener  – if this cocktail is too tart for you, feel free to add some simple syrup. Start at .25 ounce and work up from there.
  • Garnishes – we used juniper berries and slice of grapefruit. But some other grape options would be coriander seeds, just a grapefruit peel, grapefruit wedge, or lime wedge.
  • Glassware – a gin and tonic is always best in a bigger glass where there is room for ice cubes. So we suggest a bulb wine glass, large rocks glass, tumbler or stemmed snifter. They all work well and look classy, too!
