A Fall Sidecar Cocktail recipe perfect for all fall long, and even into the winter season. This rich and flavorful cocktail is a must make, and a twist on the classic Sidecar.
We wanted to make a fall version of the classic Sidecar cocktail. The history of the sidecar has always been interesting and the ingredients are cognac, triple sec and lemon juice. We added to these flavors by making a homemade Orange Cinnamon Simple Syrup and some pumpkin puree. Try Cognac in a Cognac French 75, Cognac Old Fashioned and a Cognac Hot Toddy!

Fall Sidecar Cocktail
This Fall Sidecar cocktail is almost a cross between a classic sidecar and a Brandy Crusta. We combined the classic ingredients cognac, fresh lemon juice and orange liqueur with our homemade Orange Cinnamon Syrup and Pumpkin puree.
Adding the pumpkin and Orange Cinnamon syrup made for some great additional fall flavors and added a richness and depth to the drink. We hope you try this one out as this has become one of our favorite fall drinks!
Tips & Tricks
- Pumpkin Puree – most canned pumpkin puree doesn’t have clumps, but if you make your own it might. You can strain through a fine-mesh strainer if you would like. But, your Hawthorne Strainer should take most of it out while straining from the cocktail shaker. Or, you can also double strain with a Hawthorne strainer and a fine-mesh strainer.
- Cognac – there are different kinds of cognac you could use in this cocktail. There is VS, aged 2+ years, VSOP: aged 4+ years, XO: 10+ years, plus a few more, etc. You can feel free to use the VS or VSOP, which will work great for this drink. If you don’t have cognac, feel free to use some apple brandy.
- Garnish – we just garnished with an orange twist, but some other fun ideas would be a lemon twist, sugared rim, star anise, a cinnamon-sugar rim or even a sage leaf.
- Glassware – a classic sidecar is served in coupe glasses, so that is what we chose too.
Cheers!
