A twist on the classic Paloma cocktail recipe, we added some strawberry flavor to this Strawberry Paloma!
While all the craze on the days leading up to Cinco de Mayo was about margaritas, we were drinking another great Mexican cocktail the Paloma. We needed a good drink for the weekend festivities and since there was a lot of celebrating Cinco de Mayo going on, we decided that we would be sipping on a Paloma for sure! This strawberry paloma cocktail recipe will be perfect for the celebration!
Strawberry Paloma
Already a great summer sipper, we mixed it up bit with some spring strawberries to make a great Strawberry Paloma! This strawberry tequila cocktail is the perfect spring sipper.

While most people think that the margarita is the favorite drink of Mexico, in reality you are far more likely to find Mexicans drinking the Paloma! The Paloma is a refreshing highball sipper full of tequila, grapefruit soda, a splash of fresh lime juice all on top of crushed ice, a perfect sipper for summer.
Crisp and full of effervescent citrus and blanco tequila, the paloma is at home on the beach as it is in a bar and is a great way to enjoy a cool drink on a hot day!
What Ingredients are Needed for the Strawberry Paloma?
- Strawberry Simple Syrup
- Lime Juice
- Tequila
- Grapefruit Soda
The last few summers, the paloma has been our go to drink for days in the pool as it is really easy to make, plus it is a great starting point for mixing variations! The simplicity of the paloma not only makes it great, but it makes it easy to add in some other flavors to create a delicious variation on the base drink.
In this case, we wanted to have a drink that would bring the feeling of spring while adding in a flavor that would work well with the grapefruit soda.

We had a bunch of delicious spring strawberries left over from some of our previous drinks (Strawberry Rhubarb Daiquiri Float anyone?) so we couldn’t let them go to waste, so we made up a batch of strawberry syrup. Strawberry is a really great spring and summer flavor and one that works really well with the crisp citrus bite from grapefruit.
Our strawberry syrup added just a hint of berry fresh sweetness that balances out the tartness of the lime while giving just a hint of pink to the drink!
